Reports filtering in that it is snowing at Bathurst and has been for a while, Bullaburra in the Blue Mountains and now Bilpin in the Hawkesbury.

Once again I can show you one of the signs that Spring is coming. Not only are the days getting warmer but these cute babies are in the fields.

My First Play With The New Camera

Well we thought it was about time to invest in a new camera. Unsure of what to buy we headed to Harvey Normans to check out what they had in store.

We actually decided on a Sony Cyber-shot DCS-HX5 and checked out the prices around a few other electrical stores. Well it turned out that it was cheaper for us to get one direct from Hong Kong. After ordering and paying the camera arrived and we found that they had delivered the incorrect camera. We had actually received the Sony Cyber-shot DCS-HX1

After reading reviews and checking out the features we decided we wanted to keep it. Luckily for us the company we purchased it from agreed for us to keep it at not extra cost. It would probably have not been worth it if they picked it up and sent us the other model, considering it was from Hong Kong.Here's a couple of shots that I just took in EASY mode, no fancy set ups for this setting. I love it and can't wait to try out some of the other settings on it.We are taking the dogs off to the park tomorrow and I can't wait to play with the camera again.

Out Off-Roading

Well we had fun today. Decided to go out driving in Wollemi National Park. Didn't know where we would end up but had a lovely drive around.
This first shot is of our stop at Wheeny Creek. Looks like we have found a new spot to sun bathe in the Summer.

Now this was the shocker. I kept telling my husband that one of my friends saw a camel. There it was in a field with cows, horses and a donkey.

Beautiful Autumn Colours

Just had to post a picture of my front garden. I opened my door one morning to this array of colour.Love the colours but hate the cold.

It's Been A While

It's been a little longer than expected since my last post but having my daughter here for a few weeks has been the best.

Worst part of it is that the 2 weeks she was here just flew by and now she is back in the UK.Whilst she was here we just had to visit Taronga Zoo in Sydney. Over the last few months there have been quite a few births so I was really looking forward to going there.

My favourite just had to be the baby elephant which at first, by specialists, was announced dead inside it's Mum but shocked the community by being alive and well when born.
What a beautiful day we had. All the family was together.
We even got a chance to feed the giraffes.

A Walk With The Dog

When you are rushing home from work in the car you just don't appreciate where you live. Just a stroll down our road with the dog really was appreciating. I am so glad I took the camera.

The first 2 pictures are both ends of our road.
You will see the gorgeous green fields to the side and the lovely lane leading to the Woods Reserve.

Another Sky Report

Absolutely awesome. After almost a day of rain we have a night sky of colour.

You can hardly see the mountains due to the low clouds.

We're Back

Well we arrived back from our trip from Uluru to Darwin early. I will up date every one on our travels in a few days as Dad is still here and is due to fly back to the UK later today.

We arrived home to bush fires and the Hawkesbury being declared a Section 44 (all hands on deck). Unfortunately I was still on light duties and could not volunteer to help. Once seeing my consultant I was given the go ahead.

This Wednesday I arrived at the brigade station at 6.30am and returned at 7.30pm. Noope no fire fighting but support for our volunteer helicopter pilots and crew. What an interesting day to see these helis come and go knowing that they were water bombing those areas of bush that are unaccessible to fire fighters.Well here is my favourite big girl, I say girl coz she is called "Wild Cat" so got to be a girl.
And this one has to be the all time fave girl helicopter.

New Beginnings

I have waited many days to capture these cuties. My son said that he had seen the little ones and they had cute white faces. Every time I went out there they must have been over the other side of the field.
And yayyyy today I captured them. Cute little calves with Mom.

Now I just need to walk up the road and get some more pics of the gorgeous foals that have recently been born.

New Visitor

Well he/she's beautiful, noisy and disruptive!These cockatoo are beautiful and close up I couldn't believe how big they are.
Problem is we cannot feed them and encourage them to visit, like we do the King Parrots, as they are so destructive with homes.

Awesome Night Sky

Just popped out to get some washing in the machine and was greeted with this amazing site.Looks stormy and angry red. Absolutely beautiful.

An Exhibition of Art & Craft

Well this is a first for me.

A group of artists have hired a hall for this weekend at Glenbrook, Blue Mountains, NSW and called ourselves Mountain Makers.

The Blue Mountains a part of this earth that is not only world heritage listed, but also home to many arty and creative folk. An area never lacking in beauty, eccentricity, inspiration, energy, ideas & good clean fresh air - quoted from the Mountain Makers blog.

This showcase will be held from Saturday 26th ~ Sunday 27th September 2009 at Glenbrook, the gateway to the Mountains… specifically in Glenbrook Hall (next to Glenbrook theatre). If you are in the area pop in and see us all.

New South Wales, Australia Dust Storm 23/09/2009

What a morning we woke up to. The previous night had been stormy and windy but I don't think anyone was prepared for what we saw this morning.

As I awoke I noticed an orange glow through the gap in the curtains. My first reaction was to fly out of bed and thoughts of a massive bush fire. The sky was similar to a bush fire sky.My husband took this picture at approx 6am. We do not have a problem with our camera nor was this a trick. This was the actual sky a glow and everything was covered in dust.

Then I noticed how dirty looking our deck was. Looked like splatters of mud, I suppose it was really.
This is my outdoor glass table and even the water tank that it stands on have a thin layer of dust.

The pool got a layer too. I can just see this dust going in to the pool when we roll up the cover.
And my beautiful motor got a layering too, even though it was under the car port.

The dust remained in the air almost all day with many people needing help due to breathing problems. Personally I found that I drank a lot and my throat and nose was constantly dry.
