Got The Sewing Bug Again

I just wish I had more initiative to sew more often. Tons of material pile up in my cupboard with patterns to make clothing but the 'bug' is just not there at the moment.
Anyway i had an idea of making little coin purses for the girls at work and fill them with chocolate coins for Christmas. We always give each other a small gift.

They are so easy to make. I actually purchased the instructions from another Etsy seller, she even puts pictures and makes it look so easy. You can check out her goodies at http://whatsewever.etsy.com
Well this is the first few and then I may make myself a handbag. If the bug expands a bit!!!

Managed To Get Another Skirt Finished

I am so pleased with this one and I love the material that I teamed together for it. Made from black chino and black and white flowered drill fabric. Not too sure at the moment whether to take it up a bit more but i love it. And it actually fits. In between work, going out and housey things this took me a week.

6th Sydney Vintage Show, 19th April 2009

So today we get up early - ish, bacon and eggs on the barbie and set off for Canterbury Racecourse and the Vintage Show.I have never been to one of these shows and was totally amazed at the clothing and jewellery for 1940's, 50's and 60's. I definitely want to go again.
Did I buy anything. Urmmm couldn't help it!! Just a few vintage patterns and fabric. i have so many projects waiting to be started now it will take me a life time. Times like this I wish I didn't have to go to work. Hubby had a giggle when I decided to have my hair done. looking at the pics now I can see why. I was complimented a few times though.Sunday has quickly gone by and another work day is looming.

Completed Project

Hmm well I managed to get it on and with breathing in slightly got it zipped up. Now this is my inspiration to get off my butt and loose some weight. Ewww and brown sandals, I haven't got any black ones. Maybe when it's colder my black knee high boots would look good with this skirt.

I just love the colour of this skirt, the contrast material goes really well. Only change I would make is to use the same material. Polyester is a nightmare to sew.

I am definitely going to do this pattern again but longer. My next visit to the fabric store will be looking at black with a contrast again ready for the winter.

My Skirt - Work In Progress

Thought I would give the beads a break for a while and do a bit of dressmaking. Well I found a great Simplicity pattern for a skirt but change it slightly.

Using burgundy cotton and a matching flowered polyester together.

The skirt has 8 godgets and 8 separate pieces for the skirt. Instead of using the same fabric all over I am using the polyester flowered material for the godgets. Just had to experiment, if this works out OK then I may try some different colours.

So far so good. If all goes well I should be able to update you all further.

The Bag Ladies

Sorry about the title just couldn't help it. I so have a soft spot for bags, bags and more bags. I can't seem to be able to resist shoes either.

Just look at these 2 adorable bags. How I have contained myself I do not know!! :-) These ladies both have stores on www.etsy.com .

These bags both have romantic in the descriptions. I totally agree. And so feminine. Just think of yourself out on a Spring morning with one of these on your shoulder.

The larger picture is a Pretty Romantic Shabby and Chic Tote. It is made from Laura Ashley and Rachel Ashwell fabric.

The smaller bag is described as Romantic Hearts Mini Messenger. Made from cotton and lined with a lightweight batting.

Just click on the descriptions to link yourself to their Etsy shops. Handbags are just the start, check out the other items in theses stores. Hopefully someone in my family may see these and put them away for Xmas. Wishing!
