Baby Bunnies Update

Unfortunately due to the extreme heat we lost 2 more babies and are only left with 1.

Well, as the little thing has no competition for milk take a look at the belly. This picture was taken on Wednesday 13th January 2010.As we are off for 5 days to the Hunter Valley I thought I would take some more pics of the little one just to show you guys how big he/she is now. You can also see the fur on the belly, not so pink now.I actually can't wait to get back in 5 days and see just to see how big and furry he/she is. The eyes should be open by the time we get back too.
I just adore this little one.

The Weekend Was Full Of Surprises

We bunny sat our sons girlfriends bunny whilst they went away over Christmas to Queensland. They arrived home last Wednesday and Friday I got quite worried about Flipsy (rabbit). She had started pulling tufts of fur out and making a bed with it.

After consulting a few people we came to the conclusion that she was moulting. What we woke up to Sunday morning was such a shock.

Firstly we saw this tiny still body, wrapped in fur, in her litter tray. Then the worst - a head. Ewwwwwwwww!

We searched frantically through her make shift nest and found 3 more alive. Joy! Now she has a lovely cozy homemade nest from a shoe box. They are just adorable. The Father?? We can only think that it is a wild rabbit that mated with her when she was running around in the garden.

Fingers crossed, these little ones survive. Only problem is now we keep finding them on the bottom level of the hutch which means they have rolled down themselves. None of them have their eyes open yet so they may have been searching for Mum by smell.
