Dogs and Pools

Last night, just as a storm was starting, we picked up a cattle dog roaming the streets. As animal lovers we just couldn't leave him out in the storm. Bought him home and put him in the shed. We got through the storm without a peep from him. Then 11pm came - yap, whine, scratch, whine, yap.

We ended up bringing the dog in to the house and having him in our bedroom. Very little sleep - pacing, whine, yap, sleep a bit, pacing, whine, yap. A nightmare.

Emails were sent around locals to find the owner but nothing so we had to take him to vets who scanned his chip and hopefully contacted his owner.

Now to the pool. As the cover was on the dog kept falling in. Hub removed the cover so that he could see the water. This was very early in the morning and the colour was not seen until daylight.Nice eh?

Looks like we have a few days of dumping chlorine in to it and cleaning. Geeeez!

New Visitor

Well he/she's beautiful, noisy and disruptive!These cockatoo are beautiful and close up I couldn't believe how big they are.
Problem is we cannot feed them and encourage them to visit, like we do the King Parrots, as they are so destructive with homes.

Last Nights Little Visitor

Good job my hub has an eye for this sort of thing. I think I would have just ended up standing on the poor fella. Managed to get some cute pics and a good look before he hopped away. (could have been a 'she').



We think he is a Lesueur Tree Frog.

Is This A Sign Of Getting Old?

Last night (Saturday) we went out early for a meal with my son, his girlfriend and her family. Meal was booked for 6pm and by 8pm we were fully stuffed and on our way home.

This picture was approx 30 minutes after arriving home. I say no more!!
I must add that throughout this time I was fully awake enjoying a bit of TV and reading.

It's Getting Cold In Australia

Well that is it with the pool. No more until at least, maybe, October.

Temperature has been down to zero on some days and cars are covered in frost.
It gave us a chance to try the chiminea out (how on earth do you spell that word!). Even 2 of the dogs joined it.

What Now??

Electrician has come and gone. My kiln is almost ready to use. Just really need to vacuum the dust and bits out.
Hmmm! Come on girl you say, get on with it. Yep, now I am scared to fire it up. How many boobs will I make? How and where on earth do I put the pyrometer probe thingy? Will everything flop like my cake below? LOL.

I need to move it slightly to the left away from some wood panels just in case it gets too hot. Don't want to put my firey training in to action on my own home. Now where is that fire extinguisher???

Cake Flop

Hmmm this always happens to me and never turns out nice and fluffy and big!!
Look at the picture on the box and at my finished creation. looks more like a slice of bread. Sprinkle a bit of icing sugar on and it may look like a pancake.
Oh well, it all ends up in the same place.

New Additions To The Fish Tank

My husband went to feed this fish tonight and noticed that we had quite a few additions. Mum Krebensis seems to be keeping watch over them and Dad is nearby. How cute is this?
We are hoping that none of the other fish eat the babies.

Months Of Decorating - Just Finished

Over the Christmas holiday season we decided to decorate one our spare bedrooms. I titled this months of decorating but it was a few days but took months, LOL. It was rarely used, only when we had visitors and was quite drab as you can see.
After going to Thailand in October I wanted to give it a Thai/Bali theme. I say Bali as a few of the pictures I have up came from Bali.

Well here is the completed room. We actually managed to paint it in December 08 but just put the finishing touches on today - the wall decal from ScribbleDecor on Etsy.Still need to source some Asian style bedside cabinets and drawers but haven't really found any I like or my price range.

This Is Not Funny!!

Only 2 weeks ago we had the Huntsman in our mailbox. Now we get home from work, dish up our yummy chinese and this one is sitting on the kitchen ledge. Yes! IN MY HOUSE. This is soooo not funny any more.Barry put a teaspoon gingerly next to it so you could see the size. Just look at the size of it and it's hairy legs.
I actually took about 10 photos of this spider and only 2 came out not blurred. OMG I could see it looking at me and was scared it would jump on me.

The Extended Family

Everyday the King parrots come to visit and peep for food. Usually it is one male and one female or a female on her own with a deformed leg. News must have carried fast as today my husband went out to feed them and found we had a family. At one time today we had 9 of them.

This sure looks like feeding time at the zoo!!!

The Baby Of The Family

Seeing our little one trying to sleep the other night had us in fits of laughter. He was all over the place.

And this way. This was the funniest.

He is also one of those dogs that gets inside the covers when you have a lie in and curls up either between yourlegs so you can't move, or best, curls up round your tummy like a little hot water bottle.

Love Thy Neighbour

Had to laugh at my washing today. Hub had a bit of an argument with the neighbours last week and when I put my washing out I realsied the position of his boxers. They was facing right into their garden. Tehehehe I left them there. Wonder if they thought it was funny or have they been tutting all day.

A Beading Mess

This must be a beaders worst nightmare. A whole box of sorted beads falling on the floor. Must have been thousands of 4mm bicones.

I am sure it took me at least 4 hours to pick and sort them out again in their relevant colours. Sitting on that cold wooden floor really helped to get a numb bum. As for the silver headpins a few of them still remain in the grooves of the floor.

Another thing for my "to do list" - buy a handheld mini vacuum cleaner.
