The Lemon Detox Diet

Well I am off to Thailand in just over a week and after seeing my photo at a friends wedding (the biggest one is me) I knew I had to drastically lose weight. I really wanted to wear my bikinis.

So on the internet I went and ordered 7 days of the lemon detox diet.

Yesterday I started it and was going really well. By lunch time I had a headache. OK no problem, I had read this was one of the side effects. By 2pm I knew this was more than just a headache and by 3.15pm I was leaving work early as I felt so sick. Well, half way home I started getting the shakes and the sweat was pouring off me. Only thing I could do was put my foot down and get home.

Once at home I was violently sick and now had a migraine.

Obviously this diet/detox is not for me. I am assuming that any migraine sufferer may have the same effect.

Oh well back to the milkshakes, veggies and fruit.

It would be nice to receive some views on others who have tried this and what happened (good and bad.

Is it the lemon/cayenne pepper/maple syrup detox that you tried?
I did it for 3 days but couldn't do it for any longer...my body craved food!
Anything too drastic probably isn't a good thing. Salads are your friend!

First I have to say...Looking at the photo you have up, I do not see the "big one"... I only see 3 beautiful women! And the lemon detox diet does not sound like a good way to try to lose weight. I know I have to lose some, but there's only so much a person should have to do to lose weight.

Good luck with your quest, and have fun in Thailand!!

I've never done a detox diet, but I can tell you that the best way to lose weight and keep it off is small lifestyle changes that you can stick with long term. It's not what people like to hear, but if you want to keep the weight off, that's the way to do it. Try adding 10 minutes of exercise every day, and cutting 100 calories per day. (By the way - you don't look fat.)

Detoxing can make you quite ill. They call it "the healing crisis."

I'm not advocating detoxing, I'm no doctor but you may want to see one that. in addition to being fully qualified and licensed in practicing medicine, he/she is also up-to-date on the alternative forms of medicine.

The fact you got this ill (assuming you have not come down with the flu which has already broke out for the season and I hear it's a bad one) is possibly telling you that you NEED a detox program.

Most of us do. I'm not a fan of that particular program, but a good alternative doctor can get you on a good, gentle program that may not be so tough on your system.

Do not detox as way to lose weight. It'll yo-yo on you.

I find that eating smaller portion at least 6 times a day of healthy food has help me take off 20lbs. I also did a colon cleanse;our colons get impacted as we age and don't eat correctly.

I also agree with designing hilary one should always check with a doctor when you decide to go on any type of diet. They can guide you in the right direction.

Oh Mandy, I think you need to look (honestly) at that photo again! You are gorgeous and I don't see anything big about you - except for the big smile! Sounds like your body was telling you what it thought of the lemon detox! - ha. Listen to it and do what your body needs and anyway, you have to love what you look like before you can make any changes and thems the rules! Getfunked :)

I think you are not really that big. If you are obese, then I guess you need to lose weight like I do.

Well, if you can't find time to hit the gym or exercise, you can ask your doctor or a dietitian maybe.

for my case, I'm obese, and my doctor recommended a med for me. it's something that changes your eating habit... no lose bowel movements or anything... but I've read on the internet that it can cause some sideeffects if you are allergic to some of the contents in this pill.

...it's called reductil (I take the 15mg). try to ask your doctor if it's okay for you to take this.

It's effective. I lost 20pounds...

I've never tried a detox diet. I do have problem with my weight too, all i do is eat small amount and not starve myself. I love food and I love to eat so skipping meal is like committing suicide..hehehe.

Have a great weekend. Thanks for the drop.
Btw, you don't look fat.you look just fine..great!

That is tough! I know I wouldn't survive it. I don't even want to think about what would happen to me because I really like my morning coffee and my afternoon soda.

Best of luck! I also couldn't tell which one was you because all three are adorable! :)

That doesn't sound good. And when you said the biggest one in the photo I have no clue who you are talking about. I have seen other photos so I know who you are but really...not big at all.

My husband and I went on a vegan diet, with no oil, either, becuase he has heart issues(i.e. he keeps getting blockages and I'd like to grow old with him).

He's lost 15 lbs. I've cheated some and I've lost 6. Our neighbors have each lost 20 lbs. They're the ones who introduce us to it. Google Dr. Esselstyn, and you'll find his book. Amazon carries it. I honestly feel much better when on a vegan diet. It's difficult, but worth it. We still add Fish (baked, broiled and sushi) but that's pretty much it. It really works, and you get to EAT!! Tabbouleh anyone?

That is terrible..Never did this diet..but after reading this post, I wouldn't dare..Weight Watchers is really, to me, the safest..so why am I not on it?? We are heading to Hawaii in a couple of weeks..no bathing suit for me..unless I get the kind they wore in the 20ies..
Hope you have a great trip..
