An Exhibition of Art & Craft
Well this is a first for me.
A group of artists have hired a hall for this weekend at Glenbrook, Blue Mountains, NSW and called ourselves Mountain Makers.
The Blue Mountains a part of this earth that is not only world heritage listed, but also home to many arty and creative folk. An area never lacking in beauty, eccentricity, inspiration, energy, ideas & good clean fresh air - quoted from the Mountain Makers blog.
This showcase will be held from Saturday 26th ~ Sunday 27th September 2009 at Glenbrook, the gateway to the Mountains… specifically in Glenbrook Hall (next to Glenbrook theatre). If you are in the area pop in and see us all.
Check out the Mountain Makers blog here for details of all the artists and exhibitors.

New South Wales, Australia Dust Storm 23/09/2009
What a morning we woke up to. The previous night had been stormy and windy but I don't think anyone was prepared for what we saw this morning.
As I awoke I noticed an orange glow through the gap in the curtains. My first reaction was to fly out of bed and thoughts of a massive bush fire. The sky was similar to a bush fire sky.My husband took this picture at approx 6am. We do not have a problem with our camera nor was this a trick. This was the actual sky a glow and everything was covered in dust.
Then I noticed how dirty looking our deck was. Looked like splatters of mud, I suppose it was really.
This is my outdoor glass table and even the water tank that it stands on have a thin layer of dust.
The pool got a layer too. I can just see this dust going in to the pool when we roll up the cover.
And my beautiful motor got a layering too, even though it was under the car port.
The dust remained in the air almost all day with many people needing help due to breathing problems. Personally I found that I drank a lot and my throat and nose was constantly dry.
I found some awesome pictures of Sydney on Flickr check them out here. I have never seen anything like it in my life.

Try This - BBQ Mushrooms With A Bit Of Me!
I'm not very good a recipes but just seem to put everything together. Many friends have asked for my secret recipe, which was originally just a few things put together and see what happens.
Firstly grab some giant mushrooms, like these, yummy.I mix everything in a small glass.
For 4 big mushrooms like this I half fill my glass with olive oil.
Add to the olive oil the following:
2 teaspoons of chopped garlic.
½ teaspoon of Paprika.
1 teaspoon of mixed herbs.
2/3 drops of hot or extra hot peri peri sauce.
½ teaspoon chilli powder.
Now just mix this all together and brush it all over the mushrooms. For the big ones above they would have gone in to the BBQ for at least 45 minutes, smaller mushrooms a lot less time.
Warning - this is hot!!!!
I have also marinated a chicken with this.

For My Darling Daughter
I thought I would play around with my glass and attempt some letters in dichroic. I started with the letter 'K' as my daughters name is Kirsty.
Well this one was a success and is now put away for my daughter for Christmas. I am so pleased with it and hoping she will like it.

Last Nights Little Visitor
Good job my hub has an eye for this sort of thing. I think I would have just ended up standing on the poor fella. Managed to get some cute pics and a good look before he hopped away. (could have been a 'she').
We think he is a Lesueur Tree Frog.

Hazard reduction, Bowen Mountain, 2nd Sept 2009
What a great day for hazard reduction today. Warm yet not too warm and hardly any wind. By lunchtime it looked freaky and by the end of the day it was almost out. Weather permitting this should go on for a few days. These photos were taken from the front of our house.
