Waiting For Christmas Cards

I just popped home today at lunch time to let the dogs out and grab a bite to eat.

Thought I would check the mailbox to see if I needed to pick up any packages from the post office.

Boy was I surprised!!!! This little (well compared to a dog) critter must have been waiting for his/her Christmas packages too. I managed with shaking hands and after 5 attempts to get a decent photo of it and run.

I wasn't sure what it was but have now been informed that it is a Banded Huntsman.

OMG Mandy! I'd have been terrified with a capital TTTTT! Are huntsmen the ones that hide under dunny seats and bite you on the rear end?

Glad it was you Mandy and not me. I am not partial to spiders although I can handle the odd daddy-long-legs. Huntsmen are the ones I call on my hubby to handle. He usually gets a glass or a jar and a piece of card and somehow gets the spider into the jar and then relocates it into another part of the garden.

That is the creepiest thing EVER. I could only hope that I got a VERY big heavy package the day that thing was in my mailbox so maybe it wouldn't be afterward. ICK!!

I definitely would have freaked out to see that in my mailbox, I guess he's waiting for his Christmas present also. You sure were brave to take pictures.

I'm not frightened of spiders, although I must say this one's huge...but sort of fascinating in its own way ☺

Please tell me that thing is not as huge as it looks. I don't think I could have taken a picture of it... I'd have been too scared that it would leap up and eat me.
